Jet Airways brings back former VP, Finance M Shivkumar

MUMBAI: Jet Airways has appointed M Shivkumar, the carrier’s former senior vice president in charge of finance, as its finance controller, said two people with knowledge of the development.

In his second stint at India’s second largest airline by market share, Shivkumar will be responsible for budgetary control, management information system and financial reporting among other functions.

His first assignment at Jet as senior VP­finance was from February 2009 to June 2012, after which he was group chief financial officer at textile retailer Raymond until December 2015.

Prior to his latest appointment at Jet, he been serving as an adviser at the Sanmar Group that has presence in chemicals, shipping, engineering and metals.

Before his first stint at Jet, Shivkumar was finance director at the GVK­led Mumbai International Airport Ltd and before that was vice president­finance at Tata Group’s Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces.

Jet has also appointed Laurent Recoura, former sales head of Malaysia Airlines, as its head of sales for the Gulf and adjoining regions, said one of the people cited earlier.

Recoura has had stints in Continental Airlines, United Airlines, Philippine Airlines, AirAsia and Kuwait’s Wataniya Airways.

Jet has been making top level appointments throughout last year. It elevated Jayaraj Shanmugam to the post of chief commercial officer and brought in Rahul Taneja as chief people officer. Also, Shrimanikandan Ananthvaidyanathan was appointed as chief information officer.

In December 2015, it appointed Amit Agarwal as chief financial officer and later as acting chief executive. The airline has however been unable to make a decision yet on a full-­time CEO.
