HyperCITY Retail, part of K.Raheja Group that also runs Shoppers Stop and Crossword, is planning to hire about 900 people this year for its new stores.

Future Plans

“By December, we will be opening three new stores in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Gurugram. We directly employ around 300 people in each store. We will be hiring similar number of people for the each of the upcoming stores,” Ramesh Menon, Chief Executive Officer, said in an interview.

“We are repositioning the store as something that is above the run of the mill competition that we have…Historically, we have been the aspirational retailers. So, whether it was BigBazaar, More or Reliance, we were above them…Our consumers are middle class and upper middle class, we are not communicating to mass market consumers. That is being catered to by some one else very effectively,” he said. HyperCITY currently has 19 operational stores across India out of which one store was unveiled on Thursday at Noida. Mr. Menon said the retail chain was extremely bullish on pan-India expansion. “By December, we will be opening three new stores in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Gurgaon. We directly employ around 300 people in each store. We will be hiring similar number of people for the each of the upcoming stores,” CEO Ramesh Menon said in an interview.

Next month, the company will also come out with its mobile application that will allow customers to order products online.
