Chandigarh Police Recruitment 2017

All the candidates who have applied for various constables posts in UT police will have to undergo a dope test. There are 520 posts of constables in UT police.

The decision of undergoing a dope test was taken by the Chandigarh Police. The same decision was also taken by the Punjab police last year.

The candidates who have applied will be undergoing the PE and MT (Physical Efficiency and Measurement Test). 2.14 lakh candidates have applied for the posts and they will be undergoing this test which will begin from April 17. All the candidates who will clear the test will further undergo a dope test.

There were 520 posts (Males: 198 posts, Females: 260 posts, Ex-Servicemen: 67 posts)  advertised by the Chandigarh Police in 2015. A total of 2.40 lakh applications were received in 2015 and 2.14 lakh candidates were shortlisted.

About 3,000 candidates will be undergoing the dope test daily which will be held at Recruitment Ground, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh.

The Punjab Police decided to conduct a test last year in July. Last year, more than 4.5 lakh male applicants had undergone the test. The test was conducted by Baba Farid University of Medical Sciences, Faridkot.

The cost of conducting the test is too high that is why only the candidates who will clear the PE and MT will undergo a dope test. The dope test will be conducted to check the drug addicts who are looking forward to getting into the police department. A driving license has been made mandatory for all the male applicants by the department.

Also, the department has made a driving license mandatory for all male applicants. Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh said that the dope test will be for the shortlisted candidates. He said the process of recruitment will be for at least 3 months.

The UT police will not be issuing any admit card to the applicants. The candidates who will be appearing for the PE & MT will have to bring a photocopy of their application. The photocopy will act as an admit card.

Applicants who won’t be carrying a photocopy of the application and a photo identity card will not be allowed to enter the venue
